Start It Up
Chores. Such a nasty word that no one ever wants to hear but something that has to be done. Unless you like living like you're from an episode of Hoarders. No one really likes chores unless you are sick and something is wrong with you. There's one specific chore that I love to hate and that chore is mowing the lawn. Don't get me wrong I absolutely love the smell of fresh cut grass but the overall activity is daunting. You push around a lawn mower and sweat like crazy, it seems like it's never-ending, I am petrified of snakes, and I always seem to run into them while doing the dirty, dirty deed. Well what if you had to mow the lawn to save the world? Could you put your laziness and fear of snakes aside? I sure as heck would have a hard time but sometimes you have to put your big boy/girl pants on and get your hands dirty.
Artifical Turf Would Solve All These Problems
Grass Cutter - Mutated Lawns from Sometimes You allows you to do just that but with none of the unnecessary sweating and running into the devil’s pet, offering 60 levels of mutant grass-cutting action. The levels start off so simple, so innocent. One minute you are mowing your average everyday lawns that give you some obstacles and then the next thing you know you are fighting off hordes of mutant grass monsters! Fear not, for as you complete each level you have the chance to get 3 Stars and for doing so you get Gears which you can in turn take to a shop to buy new lawn mowers! That's right! Come on down to the shop where you can buy 12 different lawn mowers which each have a variety of unique abilities.
So within each style lawn mower that you can purchase there are different color options and some of them will have different abilities like invincibility or longer battery life for example. As you progress you also gain achievements which in turn can help you along your world saving adventure.
Snake, In The Grass
You want a game with simple controls? Like so simple a caveman can play? Well this is the game for you! Call you recall playing snake on those really old Nokia phones? You know where you would try to eat the food while avoiding hitting yourself? Well this is along the lines of the same style gameplay. You are using the left thumbstick or or the D-Pad to maneuver the lawnmower around while avoiding miscellaneous obstructions and obstacles.
Landscape Artist
I am going to be very honest; as soon as I started playing this game I got a Minecraft vibe and feel almost right away. The very blockish display and cartoonish coloring really does remind me a lot of Minecraft, so I feel like fans of that game may enjoy playing this game as well. As for the audio it was honestly my favorite part. The sound effects are very typical, you know a lawnmower sounds like a lawnmower. However the few songs that play during gameplay are very upbeat and catchy.
Final Thoughts
One last bit of honesty to end this segment. I am not a big fan of the game. However I think it is overall a very wonderful game. How is that possible? Easy, it isn't a game I am going to go and play anymore for it isn’t my cup of tea. I do believe though that the game is well-built, different, and has fun factors for many different types of gamers out there. The Minecraft doppelganger graphics, the upbeat music, and all the puzzle action you can handle is sure to make lots of gamers very happy. There is a demo available which I would recommend downloading before buying. After all, that's what demos are for.
